The International Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair (IWF) is hosting a special kickoff event for this year’s 2010 convention at the world’s largest aquarium in Atlanta. The NexGen Event continues with this unique cooperation as competitors, coined “coop-etition”. This fall’s NexGen, the second one this year, will be held October 5-7, 2010 in North Carolina. The NexGen Event enables the participating companies to cost-effectively showcase their products within their own facilities. Each facility will feature their latest machinery in operation and experts will be on hand to answer questions.
The three-day event includes the addition of an evening educational session and reception in each of major cities of the participating companies. Tuesday evening will be in High Point, Wednesday in Mooresville and Thursday in Charlotte. Topics and speakers are still being finalized.

Lange Bros Woodwork Co., Inc announced today that the states oldest continuously family owned and operated custom architectural woodwork company has exceeded their all time production record. The company has enjoyed increased business in the past few months causing all three of the companies facilities and 51 employees to work overtime. The company plans to hire up to 4 skilled workers in the next week. Offer of employment have been posted in the leading newspapers.

Stiles Machinery Inc. is pleased to announce that they contributed a Heian CNC router to the East Kentwood High School to use in their engineering classes.
East Kentwood High School is located near the company’s corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. To support the advancement of local education, Stiles donated a $40,000 machine to the school along with technical support and service. In addition, Planit Solutions also donated $25,000 worth of AlphaCam software. “By providing this kind of educational opportunity, we are doing our part to help grow our industry’s business community so it has the strength to survive and prosper,” stated Steve Waltman, vice president at Stiles, during a press event at the school earlier this week. East Kentwood has already begun to use the machine and will fully implement it in classes next fall.

Veneer Technologies Names Judge Panel for 2010 Craftsman’s Challenge
Three individuals have been selected as judges for the sixth annual Veneer Tech Craftsman’s ChallengeTM, a national design competition that highlights achievement in the use of natural veneer. They are Robert Lang, executive editor of Popular Woodworking Magazine; Patrick Molzahn, cabinetmaking and millwork program director at Madison Area Technical College and vice-president of the WoodLINKS USA board of directors; and Robert Stout, president-elect of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) and principal in RLS Commercial Interiors.
