3.4 Aesthetic

a) Aesthetic rules apply to exposed and semi-exposed surfaces visible after installation.

b) Overall appearance shall be:

Premium Custom Economy
Well-matched for color
Compatible for color
Compatible for color

 

c) Raised grain and oxidation shall be removed.

d) Particles and dust shall be removed.

e) Separation of finish from substrate is not permitted.

f) Filled nail holes shall be inconspicuous.

g) Sanding scratches shall be inconspicuous.

h) Indentations, scrapes, blotching, orange peel, runs, sags, blistering, blushing, checking, crazing, cracking, adhesive spots, and pin holes are considered defects.

i) Defects shall be:

Premium Custom Economy
Not permitted Inconspicuous
Inconspicuous

j) Field repairs shall be inconspicuous.

k) Exposed and semi-exposed surfaces shall be finished.

3.4.1 Casework

a) All surfaces of cabinet doors shall receive the same number of coats.

3.4.2 Passage Doors, Integrated Door Opening Assemblies

a) Both faces and vertical edges of doors shall receive the same number of coats.

b) Top and bottom edges shall be sealed.

c) Factory cut-outs shall be sealed
