New benefits & performance standards to build a stronger architectural woodwork community

We’re proud to share details about the latest improvements to AWI standards and unprecedented opportunities available to AWI members.

You Now Have the Power to Build Your Way

Previously industry standards provided valuable and very specific guidelines on how cabinets must be constructed. That’s about to change. Now, we’re opening it up by making it all about performance.

If you have a method that meets all performance guidelines—and is verified through testing—your cabinets will earn an AWI Performance Duty Level.

It’s Easier Than Ever to Test Your Casework Construction Method

  1. One FREE set of tests for your original designs
Manufacturer and Industry members can ship two base cabinets, two wall cabinets, and two tall cabinets to the National Testing Center for one free set of tests. Shipping fees are the responsibility of the member.

If you take advantage of this, your passing results will be given a generic name and added to the AWI Method Library as a resource for all members.

See the FAQ section for more details.

  2. FREE testing of AWS2 Standards compliant casework | Free Shipping Limited time offer
If you build 100% compliant to the AWS2, we'll test your cabinets free of charge and pay the freight to the facility. The free shipping benefit will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until the allocated shipping funds run out.

If you take advantage of this, your results will be given a generic name and added to the AWI Method Library as a resource for all members.

See the FAQ section for more details.

For all testing options, a compliance inspector must audit the casework construction in the manufacturer’s facility prior to issuance of final testing reports. Audits are to confirm the construction method tested is being adhered to within the facility. They are separate from a typical QCP project inspection for certification.

Proven Standards. Proven Results. Stronger AWI.

These changes give all AWI members a competitive advantage and proof of the quality of your casework. The new testing methods offer scientific data on the performance of the methods and materials, providing peace of mind to all stakeholders. And by sharing the results with the AWI community, you're making the entire industry better and stronger.
